The Challenge. We were asked to produce a campaign promoting Willowdene Farm, a Shropshire-based rehab centre which deals with hard core drug addicts who've failed previous therapy. + The Solution. Drug addicts are stuck in a vicious circle, in which all they can think about is how to get the next hit. That's why we felt that we had to communicate with them in the language of the drug world in order to get through. The work therefore encourages readers to "Shoot up here" in order to "Get a fix," indeed, to "Get completely out of it," eventually being able to enjoy "Ecstasy." Of course, the stark, eye-catching, individually hand-drawn posters are actually full of innuendo, purporting to be handwritten messages from drug dealers, but in reality offering a way out of drug abuse. Posters and leaflets are currently displayed in needle exchanges and various clinics around the UK. We've also produced a postcard version that targets drug counsellors and a leaflet that appears in needle bags. = The Results. The work helped Willowdene fill all its places for the first time in history. In fact, there's now a long waiting list for its services. |
